The Bo Staff illusion was originally developed for Roy Shank and used in his act, then featured by other magicians. An assistant enters a box lying on top of a table. The box is then stabbed with a bo staff. Next the box is fully compressed showing the assistant has vanished. The box is restored and a NEW assistant emerges, showing a transformation has taken place. Sometimes this transformation is between blonde and brunette, and more extreme cases would change from a woman to a man.
