The magician enters a horizontal box and extends his head out one end and his feet out of the other. A wheel is spun, squeezing both ends of the box towards the middle until his head is right next to his feet. The feet move throughout the effect and the magician’s hands can be shown out the top of the box. The box is stretched back out and the magician emerges unharmed.

Originally, André Kole wanted to keep exclusive rights to this illusion, but over time he started allowing other performers to perform it. Notable performers who have used Squeeze Box include David Copperfield and Siegfried & Roy.
